Start Here

Juniper is an Old School RuneScape revision 224 server running on a custom, self-updating RuneLite client. Endgame PvM, deep PvP, every game mode, raids, and 140+ pets to chase — all free to play.

Getting started

  • Download the client from the Download page.
  • Install Java 11 — we recommend Amazon Corretto 11 (free). The self-updating launcher handles the rest.
  • Register an account on the register page and verify your email.
  • Launch & sign in, choose a game mode, and step into the world.

Your first 30 minutes

  • Type ::commands to see what you can do, and ::help to reach staff.
  • Teleport home with ::home — shops, skilling, and the bank are all here.
  • Set your XP rate / mode at the start, then start a low-level Slayer task for combat XP and early gp.
  • Vote with ::vote for points and rewards, and join the Discord.

📱Juniper Mobile

Play Juniper on Android with a native build of our real desktop client — same game, same account, in your pocket. Grab it from the Download page (Android card).

How it works

Juniper Mobile is a native Android build of our actual desktop client. I didn't rebuild the game — I took the real injected client and made it run on Android by writing Android-native replacements for the desktop libraries it expects: graphics through a ported java.awt layer (with the native color-management code compiled via the NDK), and sound through Android's own audio system.

Then I bridged input and display — the client renders its frame and I blit it to the screen, and I translate touches into mouse/keyboard events: tap to click, long-press to right-click, pinch to zoom, drag to move the camera. Anything that's normally a RuneLite plugin I reimplement natively, since there's no plugin layer on mobile.

Touch controls

  • Tap — left click
  • Long-press — right click
  • Pinch — zoom in / out
  • Drag — move the camera

Installing

Download the APK from the Download page and open it. If you see a Play Protect warning, tap More details → Install anyway — that's the normal one-tap step for any app installed outside the Play Store. You may also need to allow your browser to "Install unknown apps" the first time.

🛡Game Modes

Juniper has seven game modes. Pick when you create your character — your mode shows as a crown in-game and a tab on the Hiscores.

🌱 Standard
Recommended start
The classic experience. Trade freely, use the Grand Exchange, and play the economy. Best for new players.
🛡 Ironman
Self-sufficient
Earn everything yourself — no trading, no GE, no loot from other players. Pure solo progression.
⚗ Ultimate Ironman
No bank
Ironman rules plus no bank storage. Inventory and equipment only — the ultimate inventory challenge.
💀 Hardcore Ironman
One life
Ironman with a single life. Die and you revert to a regular Ironman — Hardcore status gone for good.
👥 Group Ironman
Team play
Ironman progression shared with a group. Trade within your team only and conquer the game together.
☠ Hardcore Group Ironman
Shared lives
Group Ironman with limited shared lives. Lose them all and the group drops to standard Group Ironman.
🌍 Realism
Slow burn
A low XP-rate mode for players who want the long, authentic grind closer to real OSRS rates.

XP rates & modifiers

The axe-wielding boss of the Stranglewood, fought in a private instance. Take the standard fight, or bring an Awakener's orb to face Awakened Vardorvis for a harder fight. Drops the Virtus robe set (mask, top, bottom) and a boss-unique vestige, plus ores, gems, runes and clue scrolls.
👁 The Whisperer
A shadowy horror lurking within the Scar — a solo instanced fight with a standard and an Awakened mode (via Awakener's orb). Shares the Virtus set drop and carries its own unique vestige, alongside runes, resources and clues.
🌊 The Leviathan
The colossal beast beneath the Scar, fought in an instance with standard and Awakened variants (via Awakener's orb). Drops Virtus armour and its own unique vestige, plus runes, resources and clues.
❄ Duke Sucellus
The slumbering giant of the Ghorrock dungeon, fought in a private instance with standard and Awakened modes (via Awakener's orb). Drops the Virtus set and its own boss-unique vestige, plus resources, runes and clues.

All four Desert Treasure II bosses are instanced — reach them via the boss Teleport Manager. Check the in-game Drop Viewer / ::wikidrops for the exact vestige, rates, and full loot tables.

Custom & Event Bosses
🔥 Judge of Yama
A custom demon boss fought in a solo, melee-only instance — ranged and magic are turned aside, so bring your best melee arms and plenty of food. Enter through the Judge's lair on Donator Island. Yama drops the full demonbane set — Emberlight, Scorching bow, Purging staff, and Burning claws (each about 1/300) — plus a super-rare Pet Mystery Box (~1/33,000). Demonbane weapons hit harder against demons and against Yama himself.
🎁 The Mimic
A shapeshifting boss fought solo from the Mimic chest. It hurls four colours of exploding candy and summons Third Age melee, ranged, and mage adds — read the candy colour to know which attack is coming and pray accordingly. Defeat it and claim a Master reward casket packed with loot.
⚔️ Sol Heredit — Fortis Colosseum Live
A wave-based gladiatorial gauntlet in the Fortis Colosseum that builds to a one-on-one duel with the champion, Sol Heredit — reach it through the boss Teleport Manager. Clear the Colosseum and you're guaranteed Dizana's quiver (uncharged — you charge it yourself, same as OSRS), on top of a supply haul of coins, manta rays, prayer & super potions, runes and high-tier ammunition. Juniper's premier ranged reward.
🏺 Tombs of Amascut Live
The desert raid, culminating in the fight against the Wardens. Get there with the in-game Teleport Manager, then enter the Tombs door — solo raiders pick a difficulty at the entrance, parties choose at the obelisk. Three raid levels scale the challenge and the loot: Normal (1/20 unique), Hard (+50% HP / +20% damage, 1/13), and Insanity (+100% HP / +40% damage, 1/8). Uniques include the Tumeken's shadow, the Masori set, Osmumten's fang, the Lightbearer, and Elidinis' ward (f), plus the Tumeken's guardian pet. Full rates in the Raids & Minigames section.

Plus Chaos Fanatic, Crazy & Deranged Archaeologist, Elvarg, and Fragment of Seren. See the in-game Drop Viewer or ::wikidrops for every drop and rate.

🏅Achievement Diaries

Juniper's twelve Achievement Diaries are fully custom-themed — every classic region diary has been rebuilt around a Juniper play-style, each with Easy, Medium, Hard and Elite tiers. Completing tiers awards classic diary reward gear (cloaks, shields, amulets, rings and more), and finishing the set unlocks the Achievement Cape. Open them from the Achievements panel in-game — PvM diaries tick up as you get kills, while skilling and collection diaries refresh when you open the panel.

🗡Slayer & Daily Tasks

Slayer Masters

Pick up a task from any Slayer Master, then return when it's done for Slayer Points. Higher masters give tougher tasks and far more points, with streak bonuses every 10 / 50 / 100 / 250 / 1000 tasks. Konar quo Maten assigns a set kill-site per task (listed further down); Krystilia gives Wilderness-only tasks that also pay Blood Money.

Daily tasks

Open your daily tasks with ::dailies — it goes straight to your task list. Tasks come in four tiers — Easy, Medium, Hard and Elite — and reset every 24 hours. Each completion awards a perk-point bonus (more for higher tiers) plus an item reward. Every target is reachable from the in-game Teleport menu (::teles); the higher tiers simply ask for more kills of the same targets.

Rotating events fire automatically throughout the day — no sign-up needed, just show up.

🔴 Breach
Every 90 min
A Zamorak portal tears open at one of six public spots — the Grand Exchange, Lumbridge, Falador, Rellekka, Slepe, or the Tithe Farm. Slay the demons that pour out for 150,000 coins per kill, plus a Breach boss worth 2,000,000 coins. Kills also have a chance at donator tokens, and the boss drops a guaranteed 90. The breach stays open for 10 minutes — a safe event, no PvP.

A team world-event where players gather Time Rift Shards to spend on rewards, with the Midnight & Noon pets doubling shards. In development — coming soon.
⭐ Bonus Minigame

🎟 Vote Lottery Coming Soon
Enter your vote tickets into the lottery for a shot at the pot, with the winner's prizes deposited straight to their bank. In development — coming soon.
⚔ Bounty Hunter
Wilderness PvP
Get assigned a target in the Wilderness and hunt them down for Blood Money and bounty rewards. Build kill streaks for bigger payouts.

⚔ Chambers of Xeric — drop rates

Each completed raid rolls for up to 3 unique drops. The unique chance is 1% per 6,500 points earned (more generous than live OSRS's 1 per 8,675), and the lucky recipient is weighted by point contribution. Bi-hourly Chambers events add a further +5%. When a unique lands, it's pulled from this table:

UniqueChance per unique
Dexterous prayer scroll29.0%
Arcane prayer scroll29.0%
Twisted buckler5.8%
Dragon hunter crossbow5.8%
Dinh's bulwark4.3%
Ancestral hat4.3%
Ancestral robe top4.3%
Ancestral robe bottom4.3%
Dragon claws4.3%
Elder maul2.9%
Kodai insignia2.9%
Twisted bow2.9%

🩸 Theatre of Blood — drop rates

A clean, death-free raid has an 11.11% unique chance, shared across the team. Deaths lower it — 10.25% (1 death), 9% (2), 7.62% (3), 5.45% (4), 5% (5), and none at 6+ — while active raid-boost events double it. Uniques roll from this table:

UniqueChance per unique
Avernic defender hilt30.1%
Ghrazi rapier8.6%
Sanguinesti staff8.6%
Justiciar faceguard8.6%
Justiciar chestguard8.6%
Justiciar legguards8.6%
Masori mask6.5%
Masori body6.5%
Masori chaps6.5%
Scythe of Vitur4.3%
Tumeken's shadow (uncharged)3.2%

Each raid also has a separate 4% tertiary roll: Elite clue scroll (91.7%), Holy ornament kit (4.6%), Sanguine ornament kit (2.8%), or Sanguine dust (0.9%). The Lil' Zik pet drops at 1/500 per completion (≈1/375 with an active pet-drop bonus).

Percentages above are each item's share of its raid's unique table. Your odds of a unique per raid are the raid's unique chance; the table then decides which item.

🏺 Tombs of Amascut — drop rates

Solo raiders pick a difficulty at the entrance door; parties choose at the obelisk. Your tier sets the unique ("purple") chance: Normal 1/20, Hard 1/13, Insanity 1/8 — and it stacks with harder boss HP and damage. In group raids your contribution scales your own roll, so pulling your weight matters. When a unique lands, it's pulled from this table:

UniqueChance per unique
Osmumten's fang19.2%
Lightbearer19.2%
Masori mask15.4%
Masori body15.4%
Masori chaps15.4%
Elidinis' ward (f)11.5%
Tumeken's shadow (uncharged)3.8%

Every completion also rolls a separate 1/25 Elite clue scroll and a shot at the Tumeken's guardian pet — 1/1,500 on Normal, 1/1,200 on Hard, and 1/900 on Insanity. Non-unique runs pay out common loot: coins, high-tier runes, raw sharks and manta ray, battlestaves, and herb seeds (ranarr through magic).

🔮Perk Points

Perk Points are an account currency you spend on permanent, account-wide perks from the perk interface.

Earning Perk Points

SourceRate
Exchange gear with Perk Master Triban50–7,500 points per item — the item is consumed
Boss kills50 points per 100 kills of a combat level 100+ NPC
Slayer tasks50 points per 10 completed tasks
Raids100 points per Chambers of Xeric / Theatre of Blood / Tombs of Amascut clear
Vote Shop (from voting)Redeem vote points for bundles — 500 pts for 25 votes, 1,500 for 65, 5,000 for 200
Daily TasksCompleting daily tasks awards a perk-point bonus (scales with tier)

The gear value scales with the item — for example Dragon axe 50, Abyssal whip 150, Twisted bow & Scythe of Vitur 7,500. Sacrificing is permanent: the item is destroyed in exchange for its points.

💎Donator Ranks & Perks

Juniper has seven donator ranks, based on your cumulative amount donated. Each tier stacks the perks of the one below it, and your rank is granted automatically when you purchase from the Store. Check your exact perks in-game with ::donatorperks.

Juniper is free to play. Donator perks are convenience and cosmetic boosts, never content gates — every boss, raid and drop is reachable without spending a cent. Ranks are cumulative: spend to a tier's total and it unlocks automatically.

Bank slots: every player starts with 1,000 slots. The totals above are your full bank size at that rank, not an amount added on top. Extra slots apply on your next login after ranking up, and losing a rank never removes items already stored.

Bonds give in-game donator-store tokens — 100 tokens per $10 — and don't count toward your donator rank.

In-Game Commands

Type these in chat with a :: prefix. Run ::commands in-game for the live list. Vote and store rewards are delivered automatically — items drop into your inventory (or bank if it's full) within seconds of voting or purchasing. If a reward is ever left pending, run ::claim to collect it.

Player Tips

  • Train Slayer early. Best path to combat XP, gp, and boss unlocks at once.
  • Use presets. Save loadouts with ::presets to re-gear instantly after a death.
  • Set goals. Pick one milestone (Fire cape, a boss KC, a 99) and finish it before the next.
  • Vote daily. Free points and rewards via ::vote — three toplists, 12-hour cooldowns.
  • Bank smart. Tag and organise your bank; presets save real time on every trip.
  • Ask in Discord. Friendly community and boss-finding channels make group content easy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start playing Juniper?
  1. Download the client from the Download page.
  2. Install Java 11 (Amazon Corretto).
  3. Register and verify your email.
  4. Launch, sign in, pick a game mode, and play.
Which game mode should I pick?

If you're new, start Standard — you can trade and use the Grand Exchange. Want a solo challenge? Try Ironman. See the Game Modes section for all seven.

Why do I need Java 11?

The custom RuneLite client is built on Java 11 — we recommend Amazon Corretto 11 (free). The self-updating launcher handles updates automatically.

How do the hiscores work?

Open the Hiscores. Filter by any of the seven game modes, browse skills and bosses, and click a name for a full breakdown. Stats sync a few minutes after login and on logout.

How do I vote and earn rewards?

Go to the Vote page or type ::vote. Each confirmed vote credits points and in-game tickets — spend points in the Vote Shop.

What happens if I die as Hardcore Ironman?

You lose Hardcore status and become a regular Ironman — character, levels, and items stay, but the Hardcore badge is gone for good. It happens immediately on death.

Is Juniper free to play?

Completely. The optional Store sells donator ranks and convenience perks that fund the server — they never gate content.

I found a bug or got stuck — what do I do?

Open a ticket on the Support page with your username and details, or ask in Discord.
